First Kaska is the economic development corporation of the Liard First Nation. Located in Watson Lake, Yukon, First Kaska provides a range of construction, transportation and energy services to the public and private sector. Its mandate is to stimulate and sustain the local economy, provide jobs and training to Liard First Nations members and members of local communities. We are looking for a motivated and safety-conscious junior safety advisor to join our team!

ROLE
- Responsible for new employee orientations, safety training and paperwork
- Maintaining monthly safety hours and statistics reporting
- Hosting/Participating in field and in office staff safety meetings
- Creating project safety plans and emergency response plans, as well as job hazard assessments
- Carrying out incident investigations and reviews, field crew inspections, and worksite inspections, along with any corrective action required
- Maintaining fire extinguishers and first aid kits (office, shop, equipment + field crews)
- Tracking safety training certificates, booking safety training courses
- Maintaining employee driver authorizations and vehicle inspection
- Assisting with preparation, planning, and execution of internal and external safety audits
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
- Good communication and organization skills
- A strong interest in health and safety
- Willingness to learn and take initiative
ASSETS
Previous experience is an asset but not required – We will train the right person
